African Statistical Yearbook 2010

The African Statistical Yearbook which is jointly produced by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) makes a key contribution to economic policy analysis and the monitoring of progress in vital economic and social sectors in the continent. Up-to-date and reliable statistics have become even more important in the context of the global economic and financial crisis because of the need to evaluate its impact on the lives of African people. Credible statistics also make it possible to identify related propagation mechanisms through a clear monitoring of socio-economic indicators including exchange rates, commodity prices, foreign trade values and volumes, international finances, migration patterns.
