A village-centric (or “village-first”) development approach in Africa, as propounded and promoted by the Chede international network, denotes a horizontal and human-focused strategy whereby the bulk of public investments and development services are oriented towards meeting the needs of the majority population living in villages. The strategy aims to level the existing disparities between Africa’s urban and so-called “rural sector”, which is in fact Africa’s village sector.
